Lovie's really been into Halloween this year. I was a bit worried at first that she might get scared (I mean, some of the stuff out there scares ME), but she's eaten up all the spook this whole month.
Every night we have to tell her spooky stories, for example. The spookier the better. She loves sitting in my lap and burrowing into me whenever a Big Bad Wolf ::howl:: or Mean Queen or Witch ::evil laugh:: enters the scene. Fortunately there's also a Ghost... a friendly ghost by the name of Casper who makes an appearance to save the day and everyone, of course, lives happily ever after.
But seriously, every single day for a month now we've been having to come up with "another spooky story." Taye got to the point where he'd start telling her about movies like the Matrix, Star Wars, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Girlfriend just eats it all up.
Last night during our trick-or-treating, she asked every single candy giver if they've seen Casper. "He's a friendly ghost and he talks!" she'd say. We had to practically drag her away from everyone so other kids could get some candy.
Oh man, I love this kid and the smile she brings to my face every single day.

I'm kind of amazed at how easily my kids have picked up terminology (that I'm sure they don't really understand). Their vocab now includes vampires, zombies, and werewolves. What! They are four and two. They don't seem scared by them, but it's kind of funny how these things just get passed on via culture and other kids around them. :)
ReplyDeleteFound you via Yeah Write, btw!
So cute! Movies as scary stories are a great idea - you'll never run out of creepy stuff there. Jurassic Park comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! My kids are scaredy cats, they couldn't handle spooky stories at night. But I DID have to drag my 2yo away from each house because he wanted to THANK them over and over. At one house he even insisted on knocking on the door again to say thank you because they closed the door before he got a chance. Here from yeah write :)
ReplyDeleteI love that you tell her a spooky story every night and that your hubs uses movies then changes them as I'm sure you'd run out of ideas! I loved c
ReplyDeleteCasper as a kid so your little cutie warmed my heart with her door chatter! Awesome! And the pics...too adorable!
What a pumpkin! I seriously love that kid, too :)
ReplyDeleteHere's to a month of daily blogging!
ReplyDeleteWe did have a great time, thank you. Though this was the first time I let our 11 year old go off with friends to trick-or-treat. I was worried more about cars than anything. Then my husband took our youngest out and I stayed home handing out candy. Lovie looks so cute. That is the best age for this stuff. That was the fun of staying behind, getting to see the precious wee ones coming up our steps.
What a cutie! And my older kids have been all into it this year, too. The twins say "Oooh" like they are ghosts when they see Halloween stuff.
ReplyDeleteChristina, the photos of your little supergirl made my day. And you know what? I think the fact that she isn't scared by spooky stories is a testament to how secure you have made her world. Happy November!
ReplyDeleteoh Louise!! what an awesome comment. thank you so much!
DeleteAwesome! We didn't share any spooky stories, though I did watch a scary movie yesterday while my boys were napping.
ReplyDeleteMy youngest is now 15. She still dresses up and goes out trick-or-treating, but it's all about the take. Even that will end soon.
ReplyDeleteLove that picture of Supergirl, such an expressive face.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! My hubby is DYING to dress our daughter up as Super Girl. Dying. She has yet to embrace the idea, however. ;)
