January 3, 2014

twenty fourteen

It snowed on New Year's Eve. And all day New Year's day, too. And the day after (yesterday).

Today is the first day in several where the sun is shining and snow is not falling.

That's not a complaint though. I freaking love this time of year.

New Year's Eve was nothing special. It never really is. I mean, it's just another day in the grand scheme of things. I'm not one to really make resolutions and all that crap. For me, it just marks a time when I need to remember to change the date. I don't live my life thinking, "Oh in the New Year I'm gonna get in shape... eat better... walk more... cry less... be a bigger/lesser bitch..." I try to do what I need to do each and every day and focus on that day as if it were my last.

Uh yeah... that's not entirely true. I mean, if I sincerely were living my life like today was my last day on earth, I doubt I'd be typing in this blog, I doubt I'd be sitting my fat ass down in front of this computer at work.

Nah, I'd be with this little chica instead:

New Year's Eve 2013

For sure.

She's what it's all about after all.

New Year's Eve, 2012

The year is twenty-twelve...for another 14 hours or so, at least.

I never in my life dreamed of a day when I would be writing or thinking about the year 2012. That number is just so beyond cray cray to me. At least it was back when I was a little shit of a kid.

Yet here we are embarking on another year: 2013.

Mind blowing to me.

Seriously though, how lucky are we to be here today?!

Despite some horrible things happening to us, around us... we're still very lucky to be here today.

Some days can be so hard and trying and tiring but at the end of the day, it's so worth it. Because you had that day and, if you continue to be lucky, you'll have tomorrow, too.

I just feel so immensely blessed.

Every single day I feel so blessed.

It wasn't always like this- oh hell no it wasn't. I've spent most of my life enveloped in so much misery. But then when Lovie came into my life... it just all clicked for me. Everything in my life started making sense. Like really making sense.

When she was born, every single day was magic to me.

And it still is today.

I've spent some time this past year feeling guilty about my gratitude...like maybe I was just sugarcoating life for the sake of this blog (or Facebook or Twitter or our living room walls). But then I realized that that's just everyone else's possible perception and I'm not here to change that. Think what you want to think. Believe what you want to believe.

And if you're lucky enough, like me, you'll think and believe that life is absolutely amazing.

Amazing.

Happy and Healthy New Year!

New Year's Eve

I was gonna do a 2011 review of my blog but... it's just gonna take up too much bloody time, frankly. And I just don't think anyone cares that much.

So instead, enjoy a video I made for Lovie's 2nd year:

2011 was another great year for us. My sweet girl grew so much and turned into quite the little girl (sniff, sniff she's definitely not a baby anymore). And I couldn't ask for anything more.

Here's wishing you all a Happy and Healthy 2012!
