Few of my Favorite things Friday

Boy it's been a while since I've done one of these... I'm just gonna jump right in:

Toddler Mum-Mums
They are my favorite because they don't leave a mess in the car, which is when they get eaten by a little someone who begs for food (Cracka! Biscuit! Hungry, Mama, Eat!!). We drive in the car twice a day every single day during the week and sometimes on the weekend and my girl is growing and loves her snacks. These are like nothing (very little nutritional value so her dinner doesn't get spoiled and she remains happy). And she knows it. She's not always happy when I hand her one but after she throws a fit without it and still claims to be hungry, I offer again and it'll do. Granted I find more of them in the back seat than she eats, but they're very car friendly in that they really don't make a huge mess (and really, they're tasty- not too heavy, nice and light and airy)!

Jason's Deli
I've just recently discovered this place and hot damn do I want to move in. I've only been one time and that one time was enough to know and believe that Jason's Deli is awesome. Plain and simple. The BEST sandwich (and I love me sandwiches) I've EVER had (the Ham and Salami Mufaletta- get it.... NOW!). EVER. Honestly. Wow, I can't really put it into words how yummy this place is. Go experience it for yourself if you haven't already.

soap.com
You can get the aforementioned Mum Mums from soap.com if you want. You can also get hair care products, laundry items, toys, vibrators, toothpaste, diapers, and more from soap.com. And you can get it all by sitting your ass down in front of the computer and clicking on the items you want and paying with your handy dandy notebook credit card. And the fine people at soap.com will package everything nice and neatly in a box with their logo and get it delivered to you within a day or two. I live in a big city and always get mine delivered the next day. Super fucking convenient. I really love them. Like really really.

FFF (Few of my Favorite things Friday)

As I stated the other day, I love Crazy8. Their products are cute and well made, their sales are spot on, their service is fast. What’s not to love?

Hazelnut iced coffees from McDonald’s

Once temps start to get about 40, I start ordering the iced coffee so I’ve had one every morning on my way to work now for weeks. I have to order it with LIGHT cream or there’s no coffee taste, but honestly, I wonder if there isn’t crack in it or something. I crave it. I start to itch if I don’t get it (weekends).

Garnier Fructis Style Super Stiff Gel Ultra Strong

I’ve been in love with John Frieda Frizz Ease (JFFE) hair gel for a very long time. The thought of this product not being made would bring me to tears. This is not a joke or an exaggeration. My hair, without JFFE, is one huge frizz ball- be in summer, winter, rain or shine. Well… for the past several months, I’ve been seeing less and less availability of JFFE. Walmart stopped carrying the gel (still carries the other stuff in that line) all together like a year ago and now I can no longer find it at Target or even Walgreens. I’ve used other “frizz taming” products but on my hair, they ALL suck but the JFFE. And I’ve tried a good half dozen or more! Well, the other week I was out of both the JF and the other brands I’ve purchased so I went with something new- the Garnier Fructis Style Super Stiff Gel Ultra Strong. This stuff is insane. I mean, when you glob it in your hands and start rubbing it together, you can actually feel a stiffness to the gel! Then, if you pull your hands apart, the gel literally stretches. It’s intense (and pretty rad if you're 12 like me). The best part is that it WORKS. And it works WELL. So if you need to style your hair to behave in a certain fashion, buy this. Or if you need to tame those frizzies, buy this. Use this. Love this. And it’s like half the price of the damn JF shit. So… thanks Johnny boy for stopping the sale of the JFFE from hitting the shelves.

Peanut Butter World

Oh.
My.
God.
The H picked up a pint of this the other week from Target and I simply cannot get enough. It's absolute perfection on a spoon, in a cup if you ask me... the milk chocolate creamy ice cream, the salty peanut butter swirls, the crispy bits of chocolate cookies... perfection on a spoon. I really hope good old Ben and Jerry keep this flavor around for a long time.

Sleep

I'm fucking tired lately. All day, every day. I'm sick of it, too. And why on earth is Lovie waking up every single friggin morning between 4 and 5 crying?! Why is she needing milk to go back to sleep?! Why doesn't she sleep 12 hours through like everyone claims their kid does? I'm tired, she's tired, we're all tired. So let's SLEEP!!

Viva Sleep!!

The Help

Last week's favorite book was Two Kisses for Maddy which I finished on Saturday (such a great book- just be sure to have some tissues present). Monday I picked up The Help and am so glad I did. I had some other suggestions for books to pick up (and probably still will at some point) but saw this one, read the first page (written from the POV of a maid way back when, very much reminding me of the style of writing from one of my all time favorite books, As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner), and had to buy it. I'm about 100 page in so far (I read sitting on the couch while Lovie watched TV for an hour a night) and I really do love the way it's written, and cannot wait to read more!

Chocolate Cheerios

Yum. YUM! I'm not sure what it is about a bowl of Chocolate Cheerios drowning in milk, but it makes me so super duper happy to have some... and share with my little lovebug who seems to be loving them as well! COSTCO sells them in huge boxes and they had coupons so the H picked up a couple boxes the other week and we've been having Chocolate Cheerios for breakfast on weekends and for snack during the week since. Yum! And tonight, I'm making some Chocolate Cheerios Crispy Treats (think Rice Krispie treats but with CCs!). Cannot wait!

Portal 2

This is the H's fault. He's a geek and sucked me in to his world with Katamari on Playstation and then Portal on the PC. Well, Portal 2 just came out the other day and just like with Portal, it's fucking addicting and awesome. The only difference now is that Lovie exists which means we can't spend all weekend playing it.

Two Kisses for Maddy

Ever since giving in and allowing Lovie to watch TV every day when we get home, I've found myself wishing for a laptop or a better cell phone or something that would allow me to sit with her yet not watch the stupid shit that she watches (it's so damn repetitive- good for her, but enough for my eyeballs to get stuck in the back of my head permanently). Finally the other week it dawned on me: I could start reading actual books again!! So I picked up Matt Logelin's book and have been reading a bit here and there all week and have like a chapter or two to go. And I love it. So much. I knew I would because I love his blog, but yeah, it's such a great story with such emotion and heart.

Few of my Favorite things Friday

Keep in mind I'm old therefore pretty late in the game with most of this stuff so if you've been there done that, I apologize.

Some recent things I've come to love, in no specific order:

I blame my husband for keeping me away for so long. He's not even on Facebook because he's just too cool. Same with Twitter and every other social networking site available. Well good for him, I say. Me? I'm digging Twitter a lot these days. It can be time consuming because I can easily get distracted and sucked in with it, but I do enjoy Tweeting. (and you might want to consider that a warning of sorts *wink*)

Dear lord I'm not sure what the hell took me so long to jump on this train. It has made my life so much easier when it comes to keeping up with blogs and news feeds. SO.MUCH.EASIER. I cannot even convey how much easier and faster and ... honestly... I can't even put it into words how much I'm digging Google Reader. This is by far my #1 favorite thing these days (well, exclude my Lovie of course). I even discovered how to tweet out things I like directly from it so be on the lookout- you may not have your blog set up to be tweeted, but I do! If that's a problem, you really might want to privatize your blog. Seriously. It's the internet, People. Nothing is sacred once it hits the web!

StumbleUpon

This is a site I just recently decided to check out (by recently I mean last night, eh) and hot dayum is it awesome. I freaking love the time I can waste on this one... not that I necessarily have a lot of time sitting around to waste (could come in handy at work though *wink*).

Chica, Nina, Star from Sprout TV

It's pretty funny. Just the other week I was confessing that I finally caved and turned on the TV to watch Lovie... and now here we are watching it every night since then (excluding weekends when the TV, believe it or not, is rarely on). She's only napping once during the day during the week at school and having Sprout on when we get home has really made her one nap doable; it's made lasting until bedtime OK. There haven't been any meltdowns this week and I really do attribute it to Sprout TV. Chica and the morning show host sing their Happy Happy Birthday song every night and Nina and Star talk about different things every night, even teaching whatever word they're discussing for the night in Spanish.

Lovie will stand by the coffee table whenever they're on the TV and study the TV and when a commercial comes on or an actual show, she comes to me on the couch and wants to sit with me. So we sit together every single night and I cannot even express how full my heart has felt all week this week. Sitting on the couch, holding my love bug- kissing her and hugging her (and sometimes tickling and talking and playing and reading, too!)... it's just so incredible for me to have this one on one time with her every single day!

Here's another brand new discovery (as in hours ago). It's another one of those daily deal sites, only it seems that it's catered to where you live, too. From what I can tell they have a local daily deal and an everyone can have daily deal. So excited about this site because if you know anything about me, you know I'm a cheapass who loves a good deal.
